About Me
Brazilian roots. A growing global perspective.
I’m Rafael, originally from São José dos Campos, Brazil. I’m curious about people: what matters to them, how their experiences shape their decisions, and how we can communicate in ways that connect.
That curiosity led me to study Economics and Marketing at UF and pursue a Master of Science in Marketing. My career interests include marketing strategy, market research, and understanding consumers across different markets.
Living in the United States has taught me to adapt while staying connected to where I come from. My first experience abroad was a six-month high school exchange in Idaho. Learning English and finding my place in a new environment took time, but playing soccer helped me form connections before I could always express myself confidently.
At UF, beach volleyball has played a similar role. Sports are a big part of my life, both because I enjoy competing and because they bring people together. BRASA has also helped me stay connected to Brazilian culture and share experiences with other Brazilian students.
Beyond the classroom, I work in marketing and communications at UF’s Office of Global Learning and serve as AMA’s Director of Global and Cultural Intelligence. These roles allow me to bring my international experiences into work that helps other people learn, participate, and connect.
I want to build a career where understanding people and culture is part of making better business decisions. This portfolio shows how I’m developing that perspective.
